I’m incredibly excited to be launching KCG. It’s been a whirlwind summer. Everyone always tells you, that when you’re starting a business, reach out to everyone you’ve ever worked with.

That’s just what I did and it was incredibly rewarding – not just in the sense of developing business, but in connecting with people who I haven’t talked to in years.

My father gave me advice to always be running toward something; not away from something.

One regret? Not doing that sooner. Reaching out and talking to people who I worked with years and sometimes decades ago put today in perspective and gave me reference points for the trajectory of my life and the lives of others around me.

There has also been the side benefit of connecting with and learning from people I’ve known for a long time. . In just a month, I’ve made connections with companies in manufacturing, staffing, and private foundations.

A second regret? That I didn’t do this sooner. My father once gave me advice to always be running toward, not away, from something. That was sound advice, but not always easy to follow. I can safely say that this endeavor is running toward something — even sprinting. I’ve had the amazing privilege of working with incredible people throughout my career and this venture is allowing me to reconnect with many of them while evolving and creating new relationships. I should have done this sooner, but it may be that I’m doing this at exactly the right time.
